July 2nd, 2009 by Bill Patterson

Consumers advised to shop wisely as millions of commemoratives and collectibles connected to the King of Pop flood the market

Oh yeah it’s bad, it’s bad.

The Better Business Bureau is warning Michael Jackson fans to be cautious about buying merchandise connected to the pop star as commemoratives and collectibles real and fake — flood the marketplace.

Among the 57,570 Jacko-related items the Sun Sentinel found on the online auction site eBay Wednesday afternoon: Hundreds of “rare” Jackson dolls (going for up to $400 each), dressed in the star’s “Thriller” costume; an unopened “King of Pop” Michael Jackson energy drink ($50,000) that its seller said was “invaluable;” and seven Jackson Internet domain names, including TheHistoryofMichaelJackson.com (offered for a cool $2.75 million).
